The Qualities that You Should Look for a Good Arborist

All trees are precious and dear to our hearts, especially the trees that are standing in our yard. Trees may seem magnificent and invulnerable, but the truth as we know it is that our trees are also subject to decay and the ill effects of old age.

When this unfortunate time comes, our trees develop negative symptoms that could cause serious injury or even their demise. During these situations, we need the help of people that are expert in taking care and management of trees; these people are called an arborist. When you are planning to hire one, here are the qualities that you should look for a good arborist.

Good Arborist

Certified

When you are facing a man that is claiming to be an arborist or an arboriculturist, you should not believe him to be so, unless he shows you his/her certificate. This quality is very important because you don’t want to be scammed, and you don’t want to lose your money senselessly.

Good Communication Skills

Another quality that you should look for in a good arborist is good communication skills. You don’t want a salesman, all you need is someone who can explain to you the problems of your tree and the methods that are going to fix it. A good arborist should be able to clearly explain to you all the details of the job, because if he can’t put it in words, most likely he can’t put it to action.

Fair Pricing

Another quality that is very important for an arborist to possess is fairness in pricing. The price that he/she would price you should be justifiable in congruent with the service he has rendered to you.

One way to determine if your candidate arborist is fair is to ask him for a detailed estimation at the beginning of the transaction. In this estimation, you should obtain a minimum and maximum possible amount of the service. All of the items listed should have an explanation why they cost that much.

Respects your Time

Tree services are not small and easy; sometimes it is messy and hard; this is the kind of problem that you want to be ended as soon as possible. So, when you hire an arborist, he/she should give you his word that he would finish the job as soon as possible.

The time of estimated finish can also be your determinant of the arborist whom you should hire. One arborist would say he can finish the job in four hours, while the other can give complex explanations and say that the job is worth three days. Also, a project that needs longer time to finish would mean higher pay for you.

Good Recommendations

Another quality that can be useful in your search for an arborist is the good recommendations from others. You want an arborist that is in good view from others because this good recommendation stems from good work. If you want an excellent arborist that is also working for a tree service company, contact tree surgeon Glasgow

Causes of a Damaged Tree

Having trees around our home have a lot of benefits, they could make us feel closer to nature and also improve the landscape of our property. However, if the trees are not properly cared of, it could become an issue of danger and safety in the future. Damaged trees become hazardous and it can cause property and injuries if not given attention of. If you think your tree is damaged, read more here to properly address the problem. To give you more idea, the following are the causes of tree damage.

Natural Causes

Trees decay or become damage because of natural causes. Like us human beings, they are susceptible to natural causes that will lead to death in the near future.

Age

Like human beings, old trees are more likely to get damaged or have diseases than the young ones. The older the trees get, the more prone they are to damage. Size can be a factor too. The large trees which have large branches and large trunks are more dangerous when it’s damaged.

Unusual Shape

The tree’s shape can indicate if it is structurally unbalanced or weak. We love to keep the trees in unique shape but we should also consider that the shape is a big factor on why a tree easily gets damaged. Improper pruning, storms and other causes of damage weaken the architecture of a tree and will lead to unusual growth patterns.

Trees that has multiple trunks or branches that are attached on the trunk have a high risk of cracking or splitting. V-shaped form trees are more likely to break than the open U-shaped ones. To avoid these problems in the future, inspect the trees if it has any branches that attached to the trunk.

Lean

We know that trees don’t grow very straight, but a tree that begins to lean indicate a problem. Inspect the tree and look for exposed roots around the tree’s base and any cracked soil.

Weather

Trees can withstand strong winds and storms, but after many years it will become a reason for the tree to fail. Trees with existing diseases or damages are more prone to fail if under some extreme weather conditions.

Human Causes

Humans play a significant role in the tree’s health. Since we’re the ones who plant them and prune them, there’s a high change that we did it wrong that’s why the trees become weak and damaged.

Incorrect Planting

Trees planted for landscaping purposes are sometimes planted incorrectly. If the tree is planted in a poor soil condition, or planted too deep and too shallow, it won’t grow into a normal and healthy one. There are proper planting techniques you should know where are specific to certain species of tree might will make it grow into a healthy one.

Incorrect Pruning

Another mistake people do to trees is incorrectly pruning it. We all know that pruning and trimming is needed to remove dead limbs and damaged branches off the tree to avoid further damage. But stub cuts and flush cuts which is often done by humans lead to the tree becoming hazardous.

How Solar Panel Work

It was the French scientist Edmond Becquerel who discovered in 1839 that there are certain materials that would give off sparks of electricity when hit with sunlight. This property is called photoelectric effect. In 1800s, the first photovoltaic or PV cells were created. In 1950s, researchers came back to the said technology and used silicon; they produced PV cells that convert 4% of sunlight energy into electricity. That was the beginning of the history of solar panels which many enjoy right now. If you’re wondering how solar panels around the world and Utah Solar work, the rest if written below.

Components of PV Cells

The components of PV cells are 2 layers of semiconductor material composed of silicon. When you think of it, silicon is not a good electricity conductor. But if you add impurities, the process is called doping, electric current is created.

The top layer of the PV cell is doped with phosphorus that bonds with silicon to create a negative charge and the bottom layer is doped with boron that bonds with silicon to create positive charge. The surface between the charges is called P-N junction.

Types of Solar Cells

The following are the basic types of solar cells:

  • Single-Crystal Cells

These are made in cylinders and sliced into thin wafers. It can produce the highest-efficiency cells that convert the most sunlight into electricity.

  • Polycrystalline Cells

It is made of molten silicon then sliced into squares. The efficiency is low because its production costs are low too.

  • Thin Film Cells

It involves depositing or spraying materials onto metal or glass surfaces in thin films. It makes the whole module at one time. The efficiency is lower but the cost is also lower.

How Solar Power is Integrated Into the Electricity Grid

Integrating the solar power into the electricity grid provides many advantages. If you’re powering your home, a building or any utilities, you can choose from the different technologies of solar power it’s either small-scale distributed or large-scale PV systems.

The rooftop solar panels and its electricity supplies on-site needs then the electricity grid supplies the additional electricity if the home or business needs more. The greatest benefit one can get from a rooftop solar is that it produces the electricity when the power is most valuable. For example, most of electricity demand peaks on sunny days where afternoon is hot. The system helps the utilities to meet the peak demand without using the power plants that are polluter and expensive.

The large-scale solar systems on the other hand feed the high-voltage electricity grid directly. It has similarities with power plants. This system operates at highest capacity when the demand is great too. It is also more resilient to extreme weather. The traditional power plants are prone to failures when one of its systems is damaged. The solar system will continue working even if one of its sections is damaged.

If you desire a high level usage of PV, you can but it’s challenging. But technology upgrade is available in the market so increase level of solar penetration is possible.
